This role is for a legal assistant with at least 3 years experience in a personal injury law firm.
Duties:
- Engage in legal drafting tasks, including the preparation and formatting of legal documents
- Maintain and organize legal files and documents to ensure efficient retrieval and storage
- Conduct thorough legal research and compile information essential for cases
- Confortable with client interactions. The successful candidate will interact regularly with clients to obtain client status updates, set up medical examinations and respond to general client enquiries.
- Coordinate meetings, hearings, and questionings, ensuring schedules are managed effectively
- Experience handling legal accounting information and assignments is considered an asset.
- Experience preparing Bills of costs and client's closing statement of accounts is considered an asset.
- Manage Limitation dates and other important deadlines on matters.
- Assist in project management activities related to legal matters
- Utilize tools like Clio for proficient document management and case notes documentation
- Handle clerical responsibilities such as managing phone calls, emails, and correspondence with professionalism
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in legal administrative support or a related field
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction within the team and external parties
- Proficiency in administrative duties like filing, data entry, and record keeping
- Ability to conduct legal research effectively to support case preparation
- Familiarity with project management principles within a legal context
- Experience with document management software like Clio and Quick book is advantageous
