CTOMS™ is a unique company providing tactical, medical, rescue training and equipment sales primarily to the defense and security industry, but rapidly expanding into more mainstream, and international markets. Working at our location in South Edmonton, in a fast-paced environment, we are seeking an ambitious and energetic part-time Manufacturing Apprentice.

CTOMS™ designs and manufactures high-angle and technical devices used in safety-critical applications, including components incorporated into our belts and harness systems. As we expand our in-house manufacturing capabilities, we are looking for someone who wants to learn the work from the ground up and, over time, take real ownership/oversight of this part of the company.

This is not a conventional production position.

We are looking for someone with a naturally mechanical mind, an interest in how things work, and some experience or aptitude in metalworking, fabrication, machining, or similar hands-on work. Our products demand precision, consistency, and care. Formal credentials are less significant to us than how you think, how you work, and what you take pride in making. This position also involves working with safety-critical equipment.

Residency in or near Edmonton is required as the location of work is at our facility in South Edmonton.

Job Type: Part-time initially, with the opportunity to grow into full oversight of manufacturing.

Responsibilities and Duties

You will initially learn and perform the full range of our manufacturing processes, including, but not limited to:

- Specialty riveting and mechanical assembly.
- Operating mechanical presses.
- Laser-marking equipment.
- CNC and conventional sewing.
- Various production and support equipment.
- Inspection and measurement using tools such as calipers,



height gauges, and other precision equipment.

As you become proficient, the role will expand to include:

- Working to tight tolerances with a focus on repeatability, finish quality, and reliability.
- Maintaining tools, fixtures, equipment, and work areas to a high standard.
- Learning, documenting, and improving manufacturing processes.
- Performing quality checks and identifying opportunities to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Gradually taking responsibility for production scheduling and day-to-day coordination.
- Ultimately taking oversight of the manufacturing section as production volume grows.
- Working closely with design and engineering to ensure products are practical and efficient to manufacture within our manufacturing environment.

The position will begin part-time, while the manufacturing section continues to grow. Hours, responsibilities, and compensation will increase as the workload and your capabilities develop. Who we are looking for

You don't need a formal machining or manufacturing background. What matters is whether you can demonstrate that you already approach making things with care and precision.

That could be through personal projects, previous shop experience, fabrication, machining, restoration work, woodworking, metalworking, competition results, maker projects, mechanical hobbies, or simply something you've built that you're proud of.
