Position Summary The Spray Painter & Finisher is responsible for preparing, spraying, staining, painting, and finishing custom cabinetry, millwork, furniture, and other wood components in accordance with shop drawings, finishing specifications, and company quality standards. This position ensures that all finished products meet the required colour, texture, sheen, and overall appearance while maintaining an efficient, clean, and safe finishing workplace.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare cabinetry, millwork, doors, panels, and furniture components for finishing.
- Sand, fill, prime, stain, paint, lacquer, and spray various wood and composite materials.
- Operate spray guns, compressors, sanding equipment, and other finishing tools and equipment.
- Mix and prepare paints, stains, lacquers, primers, and other finishing products according to manufacturer specifications.
- Match colours, stains, sheens, and finishes according to project requirements and approved samples.
- Apply consistent and even finishes while avoiding runs, drips, orange peel, overspray, and other defects.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality, colour consistency, smoothness, and overall appearance.
- Perform touch-ups, repairs, and re-finishing when required.
- Properly prepare surfaces through sanding, cleaning, masking, and other required preparation processes.
- Follow shop drawings, finishing schedules, product specifications, and supervisor instructions.
- Maintain spray booths, finishing areas, tools, and equipment in clean and proper working condition.
- Follow all WHMIS, SDS, health and safety, ventilation, PPE, and hazardous-material handling requirements.




- Properly store, label, and dispose of paints, solvents, chemicals, rags, and finishing materials.
- Work closely with cabinet makers, assemblers, supervisors, and installers to ensure finishing requirements are met.
- Identify finishing issues or material defects and report them to the supervisor.
- Maintain consistent production quality while meeting project deadlines.
- Assist with general shop duties and other finishing-related tasks as required.

Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in spray painting, wood finishing, cabinetry, millwork, furniture, or a related field.
- Experience working with lacquer, polyurethane, stains, paints, primers, and other wood finishing products.
- Strong knowledge of sanding, surface preparation, colour matching, and spray application techniques.
- Ability to operate and maintain spray guns and finishing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship.
- Ability to identify imperfections and correct finishing defects.
- Ability to read and follow shop drawings, specifications, and finishing instructions.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good time management and ability to meet production deadlines.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and safe handling of finishing chemicals is an asset.
- Previous experience in a custom millwork or high-end cabinetry environment is an asset.

Pay: $22.00-$34.80 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
