Basic Requirements

- Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing;
- Master's Degree in Nursing/Education or equivalent;
- Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO);
- Five (5) years recent Birthing Unit experience;
- Recent experience in Operating Room and Critical Care Obstetrics;
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification;
- Communicate effectively, in both oral and written format;
- Superior interpersonal skills;




- Requires the ability to direct, supervise, teach, advise nursing personnel in the area of nursing standards;
- Use effective teaching strategies incorporating educational theories and practice standards;
- Ability to use multimedia technologies and just-in-time teaching techniques;
- Demonstrate leadership ability;
- Demonstrate group facilitator skills;
- Requires a thorough working knowledge of current nursing theories, research and practice standards;
- Requires a thorough working knowledge of current and future trends in health care;
- Demonstrated knowledge of current legislation affecting patients and employees;
- Eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- Two (2) years teaching experience;
- Obstetrical Simulation experience;
- Membership in Specialty related Professional Association;
- Certification in a clinical specialty;
- Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced).

The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills. Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French and English speaking clients.
