Overview The Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta (CPAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Albertans with disabilities and their families.

The Operations

Assistant supports our donation collection and operational activities throughout Calgary or Edmonton and surrounding areas. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role involving donation bin servicing, collection routes, warehouse work, community clean-ups, and onsite events. We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious individual who enjoys working as part of a team and in the community.

Responsibilities

- Assist Drivers with clothing donation bin servicing, pickups, deliveries, collection routes, and community clean-ups.
- Collect clothing, household items, bottles, and other donated materials from residential and commercial locations.
- Support door-to-door collection services as required.
- Safely and efficiently load and unload trucks, trailers, warehouses, and other designated locations.
- Assist with the placement, relocation, maintenance, and cleaning of outdoor donation bins.
- Receive, sort, organize, package, palletize, and prepare donated materials for storage, distribution, or shipment.
- Sort and prepare bottles and other recyclable materials for shipment to the bottle depot.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe donation sites, vehicles, bins, warehouse facilities, yard areas, and workspaces.
- Complete operational documentation as required.
- Work at CPAA facilities and other operational locations as required.
- Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with donors, customers, community partners, and members of the public.
- Follow all CPAA policies, health and safety procedures, safe lifting practices, and PPE requirements.
- Perform other duties reasonably related to the position as assigned.

Requirements





- This is a physically demanding position involving frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs., as well as standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, climbing steps, and performing repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely handle and move donations and other materials throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and in warehouse and yard environments.
- Comfortable working in environments that may include noise, dust, odours, fumes, and oils.
- CSA-approved steel-toe safety boots.
- Ability to travel throughout Calgary or Edmonton and surrounding areas, as operationally required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, flexible, adaptable, and punctual.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and skilled work environment.
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.

Assets

- Previous experience in general labour, moving, warehouse operations, delivery, material handling, or a similar physically demanding role.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Experience safely operating manual material-handling equipment, such as pallet jacks and dollies.

Schedule

- Casual, on-call.
- Flexibility required based on operational needs, including occasional evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required.
