JOB SUMMARY
Kanata South Kumon is looking for a dependable, highly organized and capable part-time team member who enjoys working with children while also playing a role in the smooth operation of a busy learning centre. Your energy and proactive approach will help create an engaging, welcoming space where students feel motivated and supported in their learning journey. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in education, customer service, and operational management within a collaborative team.
This is not a student job or a casual "help out at the desk" position.
DUTIES:
DEVELOP AND DOCUMENT THE CENTRE'S STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (SOPs)
You will work with the Instructor and Chief Assistant to observe, document, organize and develop clear Standard Operating Procedures for centre processes and staff training.
The goal is to create a practical, organized and sustainable operating system that allows centre procedures to be performed consistently, efficiently and correctly. As many of these procedures as possible would be in the form of video simulations.
You will help document processes such as student check-in and check-out, homework and classwork procedures, classroom routines for each station, guidelines for student supervision, observation and guidance, using centre resources and supplements, grading and recording, attendance tracking, student and parent communication, conducting parent meetings, opening and closing procedures, staff roles and responsibilities, staff training procedures, staff evaluation and advancement criteria, administrative and reporting routines, safety and emergency procedures, linkages between the different jobs and roles, centre systems and softwares, other centre operations as assigned
This SOP-development responsibility is a significant part of the position.

You must study the Kumon method and learn its approach and purpose. You must understand the aims of the Kumon levels and the strategies to achieve them.
You must use that knowledge to consistently apply the Kumon method when working with students.
You must be friendly and approachable, patient, respectful, calm, firm when necessary, comfortable reinforcing expectations, able to maintain appropriate boundaries, able to redirect students without unnecessary confrontation, know when to escalate.
You should enjoy working with children, but understand that this is a learning centre, not a daycare or social environment.
