Job Summary

DeepDive Locators provides professional private utility locating services to help contractors, property owners, engineers, and other clients safely identify underground utilities before excavation, drilling, construction, and other ground-disturbance activities.

We are looking for an experienced Private Utility Locator to join our team on a part-time basis.

Position Summary The successful candidate will perform private utility locating at residential, commercial, industrial, and construction sites. This position is best suited for an experienced locator who can work independently, communicate professionally with clients, and provide accurate and reliable utility markings.

The candidate must have their own reliable vehicle and utility locating equipment.

Responsibilities

- Perform private underground utility locates at various project sites.
- Locate and mark underground utilities using appropriate electromagnetic locating equipment and other available methods.
- Identify utilities such as electrical, communication, water, sewer, gas, and other private underground infrastructure where applicable.
- Review available site drawings, utility plans, and other relevant information before and during locating.
- Clearly mark identified utilities on the ground using appropriate colours and markings.
- Document locate results accurately, including site photographs and field notes as required.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, site supervisors, and DeepDive Locators regarding site conditions and locate results.
- Identify limitations, uncertainties, conflicts, or conditions requiring additional investigation.
- Follow applicable safety procedures and professional utility-locating practices.




- Maintain a professional appearance and represent DeepDive Locators positively while working at client sites.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of utility locating experience.
- Previous experience with private utility locating is strongly preferred.
- Must have a reliable vehicle suitable for travelling to job sites.
- Must have access to and be able to operate professional utility locating equipment.
- Strong knowledge of underground utility systems and utility-locating principles.
- Ability to interpret utility drawings, site plans, and field conditions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Valuable communication and customer-service skills.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to different job sites.
- Commitment to safe work practices.

Additional Assets Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Private utility locating on commercial and industrial sites
- Construction and excavation environments
- Utility mapping and documentation
- Reading engineering and as-built drawings

Schedule This is a part time position, with work scheduled based on project requirements and availability. The position may be suitable for an experienced locator looking for additional or flexible work.
