Role Description The Peace Officer is a full-time, on-site role located in Drayton Valley, AB, responsible for promoting public safety and enforcing applicable municipal and provincial laws and bylaws. Day-to-day tasks include conducting regular patrols within the community, monitoring compliance with bylaws, and responding to public complaints and concerns. The role involves investigating incidents, gathering evidence, preparing reports, and issuing warnings or enforcement actions as required.

The Peace

Officer will collaborate with other municipal departments and external law enforcement agencies, participate in community outreach,



and provide education on safety and compliance. The position requires maintaining accurate records, attending court proceedings when necessary, and representing the Town in a professional, respectful manner.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of relevant Law, including applicable municipal bylaws and provincial legislation.
- Demonstrated Law Enforcement experience, including conducting investigations and applying appropriate enforcement measures.
- Ability to collect, document, and preserve Evidence in accordance with legal and procedural standards.
- Commitment to Public Safety and community-based problem solving, including effective communication with residents.
- Experience conducting Patrol duties, including routine area checks and targeted enforcement activities.
- Completion of recognized peace officer or law enforcement training program and eligibility to obtain required provincial appointments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, report writing ability, and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to de-escalate conflict and work with diverse community members.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to meet physical demands of patrol and enforcement duties.
- Previous experience in a municipal or public safety workplace is an asset.
