Agency: PHd Job Function: Media Job Subfunction: Media Planning and Buying Position Summary The Associate Director, Performance is a strategic leader who provides integrated digital media expertise and data-driven recommendations while managing a team of digital specialists across search, social, and programmatic channels. Managing either a complex multi-line-of-business client or multiple client accounts, this role strengthens client relationships by applying performance marketing expertise to drive measurable results and ensure clients remain current with industry best practices.
The Associate
Director will drive performance strategy across teams and clients, ensuring all digital recommendations are strategically integrated and that teams collaborate cohesively in support of business objectives. This role requires deep expertise in digital marketing channels and a comprehensive understanding of how performance marketing integrates with and influences broader marketing initiatives.
Strategic & Planning Develop and execute performance marketing strategies across digital channels
Lead campaign planning and optimization initiatives
Collaborate with clients to establish KPIs and performance targets
Conduct market analysis and competitive research to identify opportunities
Campaign Management Oversee day-to-day management of performance marketing campaigns
Monitor campaign performance metrics and ROI continuously
Optimize bidding strategies across paid search, social, and display channels
A/B test creative, messaging, and targeting approaches
Manage campaign budgets and ensure efficient spending
Assign tasks and manage workflow within the performance team
Provide guidance on best practices and campaign optimization techniques
Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback
Client Management Serve as key client contact for performance marketing initiatives
Create comprehensive performance reports and dashboards
Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and optimization opportunities
Work with creative, media planning, and account teams
Coordinate with analytics and data teams for insights
Share performance insights to inform broader agency strategies
6+ years of experience in performance marketing, digital advertising, or related roles
2+ years of experience managing or leading a team in a media agency or marketing environment
Demonstrated expertise across at least two digital channels (Search, Social, Programmatic)
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data interpretation and reporting
Deep knowledge of campaign strategy, setup and hands-on optimization experience with leading digital marketing platforms (including Google Ads/SA360/DV360, Amazon, Meta, TikTok)
Experience managing $500K+ budgets with measurable ROI
Robust project management and organizational skills
Advanced data analysis and insight extraction capabilities
Knowledge of how performance marketing integrates with broader initiatives
Technical & Tools Proficiency with dashboard and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
Advanced Excel/data management skills
Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM systems
Experience with APIs and data integration for reporting
Track record of building long-term client relationships
