Job Title:Policy and Research Analyst Ministry:Justice Full or Part-Time:Full Time Permanent/Temporary: Permanent Salary: $2,935.39 to $3,850.29 bi-weekly ($76,613 - $100,492/year) The Alberta Public Service works to build a stronger province for current and future generations. The Court and Justice Services (CJS) Division provides a wide range of resolution and court services for people involved in legal disputes. In collaboration with the courts of Alberta, Court and Justice Services provide various programs and services including educating and helping Albertans finding solutions for legal issues, navigating the court system, offering programs at no cost or a nominal charge, and administrative support to all courts in Alberta.
Reporting to the Manager, Court Policy, you'll have the opportunity to support senior and executive management by addressing action requests and providing vital information to the public and other stakeholders. You will engage in a variety of short- and long-term research projects on government initiatives, policies, programs, and services that impact court and resolution services in Alberta. As a Policy and Research Analyst, your role will include, but is not limited to : Conducting research and synthesizing timely, accurate and complete information to support recommendations to senior and executive management, including the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General, through briefing notes, memos, meeting agendas, reports, policies, and proposals.
Accessing a diverse network of contacts and conducting research to respond directly to telephone calls, emails, and letters regarding resolution and court services operations, procedures, services, and programs.
Defining problems and developing recommendations and alternatives to help with executive decision making, policy development, operational effectiveness, and operational and strategic planning. Participating in project coordination and the implementation of initiatives within the division, across the Ministry, and with other provincial government departments.
The ability to manage multiple time-sensitive research and writing projects that assist Albertans seeking information and services. Solid adaptability and organizational skills, coupled with confidence in project and time management, to meet deliverables within established timelines.

Environment – You work cooperatively and collaboratively with a variety of teams within the ministry, across government, and in the community to achieve client, divisional, and ministry goals and objectives. University graduation in a related field (e.g.
Political
Science, Public Administration, Social Sciences, English, Education, etc.) plus two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in policy and research analysis and development; Assets Work experience within the Ministry of Justice. Work experience in policy and research analysis and development in the public or not-for-profit sector.
Experience with stakeholder engagement, including preparing briefing notes and providing recommendations and options to senior leadership and decision-makers. Work experience in designing, developing, and leading small- to medium-sized research and writing projects. Work experience using case management software.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint. Cover letters will be assessed for writing skills (e.g. grammar, spelling, punctuation) as part of the screening process.
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate.
