Medicine Hat Public School Division is hiring a probationary Educational Assistant at Elm Street School working 30 hours/wk and starting as soon as possible In accordance with Article 12 of the Agreement between the Board of Trustees and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 829, the following information is posted.

Position Summary An opportunity exists for an Educational Assistant to join the Elm Street School team. This includes supporting students with diverse and complex learning needs and providing positive behaviour supports in an inclusive classroom setting.

Skills & Requirements

- Experience working with students with diverse and complex needs would be an asset
- Support with in class and small group supports to help students access learning
- Support students with positive behaviour, development of self-regulation strategies and inclusive practices
- Excellent interpersonal and digital communication skills with students and adults
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher & school team




- Implement strategies and recommendations effectively as outlined in Individual Support and Behaviour Support Plans
- Ability to work in a flexible learning environment
- Ability to adapt quickly for classroom or student needs
- Supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc.)

Qualifications

- Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience working with students in school setting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work with children with diverse ages, skills level, needs and abilities specifically early learning to grade 6
