As Operations Manager with Ventana Special Projects, you will play a central role in connecting the company’s strategic direction with day-to-day operational execution. You will oversee the successful delivery of projects, balancing financial performance, risk management, client satisfaction, and operational excellence while providing the leadership and direction needed to keep teams aligned and accountable. Working closely with the General Superintendent and President, you will support the estimation and field teams, translate company objectives into action, and independently identify and resolve challenges while keeping leadership informed of key issues, risks, and opportunities.
You will also build strong relationships with clients, consultants, trade partners, and industry organizations while identifying opportunities for current business and continued growth. As an Operations Manager your key accountabilities will involve: Establishing measurable operational standards, monitoring company and project performance, and driving continuous improvement across project teams.
Establishing and continuously improving company-wide systems for project controls, financial reporting, operational procedures, and field execution, including regularly reviewing and refining the Operations Manual. Overseeing project financial controls, invoice processing, and reporting, providing regular financial summaries to the President, and supporting initiatives to improve profitability and business volume. Partnering with the President to develop and execute the company’s business development strategy, supporting marketing initiatives, identifying new business opportunities, and strengthening the company’s industry presence.
Reviewing contracts, participating in client negotiations, and identifying and mitigating risks to protect the company’s interests and support successful project outcomes. Conducting site visits to monitor quality of workmanship, operational consistency, and accountability across projects. Providing regular communication to the President on company performance, key issues, opportunities, and risks while independently identifying, assessing, and resolving operational, project, personnel, and client matters, escalating issues when appropriate.
Supporting clients throughout the project lifecycle by understanding their needs, resolving concerns, anticipating challenges, and building strong, long‑term relationships that contribute to repeat business and the company’s reputation. Developing current business opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, trade partners, suppliers, and colleagues to strengthen the company’s network and support continued growth. Leading, mentoring, and developing Project Managers, Coordinators, and Administrators through coaching, performance management, succession planning, career planning, and professional development.
Leading workforce planning, recruitment, and personnel management in collaboration with the General Superintendent, HR, and executive leadership, including regularly reviewing workforce needs, supporting career planning, conducting weekly 1-on-1s, and addressing disciplinary matters as required.
Championing a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture that prioritizes safety, professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning. Working collaboratively and making decisions in the best interests of the company and its people, balancing operational, financial, client, project, and team considerations when determining the appropriate course of action.
As an Operations Manager your success is dependent on: ~ Employing a creative approach to effectively serve clients and trade contractors. A commitment to working collaboratively and supporting team efforts. As an Operations Manager your experience and qualifications will include: ~10+ years of operations management experience, ideally with a general contractor.
Post-secondary industry education in construction is an asset. Comprehensive computer and technical skills such as Microsoft Office applications, Project Management software, accounting software etc..
Experience working on and independently leading multiple projects with $10-50+ million-dollar budgets. ~ Executive-level written and verbal communication skills and leadership abilities.
