Role Overview
We are seeking an Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist with proven experience in manual testing, data reconciliation, test strategy development, accessibility testing, and quality assurance for large, complex, business-critical systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing test plans, test cases, test scripts, test data, and expected results , along with hands-on expertise in functional, integration, regression, system, UAT, performance, and data validation testing. Experience with JIRA, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps, Micro Focus/OpenText UFT, Selenium, Postman, Oracle, and accessibility testing tools is highly valuable.
Experience testing complex systems involving frequently changing data, business rules, and images , as well as AODA/WCAG 2.0 AA compliance , is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance & Test Strategy – 45%
- Lead and execute manual testing and data reconciliation activities for large, complex, business-critical systems.
- Develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, test scripts, test data, and expected test results.
- Plan and organize testing efforts across large systems in both GUI and non-GUI environments.
- Execute functional, integration, system, regression, acceptance, and specialized testing.
- Support and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
- Develop testing strategies for systems involving complex data, business rules, and images with high annual change rates.
- Perform data analysis, cleansing, conversion, migration, transformation, and reconciliation testing.
- Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components and databases.
- Validate that applications behave as expected under different conditions.
- Execute test scenarios and test cases for large and complex systems.
- Coordinate QA activities within tight timelines and manage conflicting priorities.
- Conduct accessibility testing aligned with AODA and WCAG 2.0 AA standards.
- Provide advice regarding testing strategy, test plans, testing tools, and resources required.
- Ensure testing processes comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Testing & Automation – 35%
- Test web-based 3-tier application platforms and complex business solutions.
- Test workflow, portfolio management, and rule-driven business solutions.
- Perform testing of both custom-developed and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) implementations.
- Work with tools including JIRA, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps, ALM, and Micro Focus Product Suite.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Micro Focus/OpenText UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, Postman, and similar technologies.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
- Conduct performance, stress, and load testing using tools such as JMeter and LoadRunner.
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and assess system scalability.
- Perform backend and database testing using Oracle database tools and SQL queries.
- Develop queries to validate data and perform backend reconciliation.
- Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman.
- Work with accessibility testing tools including WAVE, JAWS, NVDA, and Compliance Sheriff.
- Perform basic security testing and collaborate with security specialists on more advanced security assessments.
- Support testing across application development, implementation, deployment, and maintenance phases.
- Collaboration & SDLC Support – 15%
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, IT leads, testing leads, and other project stakeholders.
- Work with project teams throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Coordinate multiple teams representing different business and technology areas.
- Clarify requirements and ensure application quality and test coverage.
- Participate in design and testing walkthrough sessions.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test results, test coverage, defects, and quality metrics.
- Provide input for user manuals, release notes, and system documentation.
- Demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Maintain a strong track record of meeting deadlines.
- Public Sector Experience – 5%
- Experience working in the Public Sector, either as a vendor representative or under contract to a government ministry or agency.
- Public sector experience involving large business systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with public sector information management principles, policies, methodologies, and practices is an asset.
