Job Overview

As a Secondary Sawyer, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of secondary saws used to cut and process stone products, ensuring smooth workflow and safety compliance with a wage scale of $21.40-$22.40/ hour for 40 hours per week. This position includes machine setup and operation, reading production tickets, measuring and programming cuts, performing routine equipment inspections and maintenance, monitoring product quality, and ensuring finished products meet specifications. This posting is for an existing position that we are currently seeking to fill, as well as potential future opportunities resulting from production growth.

The Secondary

Sawyer must comply with Health and Safety, WHMIS and Personal Protective Equipment requirements.

Job Duties

- Performing stripping, square cut, angle, notching and mitered duties
- Loading saws, ensuring quality of stone, reading tickets, measuring jobs, programing machines, monitoring cuts, ensuring finished product is correct
- Machine maintenance including greasing of arbor baring, filing oil reservoir, and greasing motor
- Performing daily inspections of the machine at pre-start
- Tearing down blocks and properly banding and clamping product as required
- Maintain a safe and organized working area
- Effectively following all safe working practices and always wearing proper personal protective equipment
- Strong ability to work with team members in a respectful manner
- Ensuring that all Owen Sound Ledgerock Ltd. machines and equipment are treated with respect
- Creating and maintaining a quality product in a secure and timely manner




- Following Standard Operating Procedures and ensuring machine is being utilized to proper capability
- Following instructions and paperwork while meeting production targets
- Performing daily inspections and small maintenance to the blades and machines to ensure optimal cutting performance
- Meeting quality standards and proactively communicate any issues with material to supervisor.

- Basic Math skills and ability to read a tape measure
- Physically able to lift to 50lbs unassisted
- Reliable and punctual
- Fitness for Duty to perform a safety sensitive position in a mining facility
- Motivated to meet production requirements
- Ability to work outside, in both hot and cold temperatures and stand for long periods of time

Education and Experience

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working in a quarry is considered an asset.
