Vibroseis Operator Experience Preferred

Location: Calgary, Alberta / Field projects throughout Canada and potentially the United States

Compensation: CAD $350–$650 per day, depending on experience and assignment

Work arrangement: Field-based, rotational, and extended travel

Language requirement: English–Spanish bilingual

About the Position

Faraday Geophysics Canada is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Seismic Surveyor / Field Technician to join our field operations team.

Applicants may live anywhere in Canada. Calgary is our preferred mobilization point, but Calgary residency is not required. Candidates must be able to reliably travel to Calgary or directly to assigned project locations.

This is a hands-on field position involving seismic survey and layout, GPS navigation, line and station marking, field data collection, equipment support, and general field labour. Previous experience operating or supporting Vibroseis equipment—also called vibe or vibrator equipment—is strongly preferred.

Successful candidates must be comfortable working outdoors, travelling for extended rotations, walking over difficult terrain, and helping wherever required to keep field operations moving safely and efficiently.

Fluency in Spanish and functional spoken and written English are required. This position may communicate instructions, safety information, and project requirements between English-speaking supervisors and Spanish-speaking field personnel.

Some future assignments may take place in the United States. Current legal authorization to work in the United States is a strong asset. Applicants should indicate whether they are currently authorized to perform work in the U.S. and whether employer sponsorship would be required.

Responsibilities

- Lay out seismic source and receiver lines using project maps, coordinates, preplots, GPS, or GNSS equipment.
- Navigate to planned station locations and accurately mark points using stakes, flags, paint, or other approved methods.
- Confirm line numbers, station numbers, source points, offsets, access restrictions, and exclusion areas.
- Collect and record field coordinates, notes, access information, hazards, and layout changes.
- Communicate daily assignments, safety information, and field instructions in English and Spanish.
- Assist surveyors, crew supervisors, Vibroseis crews, seismic crews,



and project managers as required.
- Operate or assist with Vibroseis source equipment when qualified and assigned.
- Support source-point positioning, radio communication, equipment inspections, and daily production activities.
- Perform general field labour, including carrying equipment, placing stakes and flags, loading vehicles, and maintaining field supplies.
- Identify and report hazards, access issues, environmental concerns, or differences between preplots and actual field conditions.
- Complete daily field records, equipment checks, hazard assessments, and safety documentation.
- Maintain survey equipment, field tools, vehicles, and supplies in clean and serviceable condition.
- Follow all company, client, environmental, transportation, and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Travel and remain at remote project locations for extended work rotations.

Required Qualifications
- Fluent English.
- Functional spoken and written Spanish.
- Previous seismic, surveying, construction layout, pipeline, forestry, exploration, heavy-equipment, or outdoor field experience.
- Comfortable reading maps, coordinates, line numbers, station numbers, and field plans.
- Able to use handheld GPS equipment, tablets, smartphones, or similar field technology.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent.
- Able to work long days outdoors in winter, summer, mud, snow, bush, and uneven terrain.
- Physically capable of walking significant distances and regularly lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Willing and able to travel throughout Alberta and elsewhere in Canada.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Vibroseis Operator, Vibe Operator, vibrator operator, source operator, or Vibroseis crew member.
- Experience operating, positioning, inspecting, or supporting Vibroseis equipment.
- Previous seismic survey or seismic line-layout experience.




- Familiarity with seismic source-point positioning, sweep production, source and receiver stationing, or line-numbering systems.
- Experience using Leica, Garmin, RTK, GNSS, or similar positioning equipment.
- Experience with ArcGIS Field Maps, Avenza Maps, or other mobile mapping applications.
- Experience operating an ATV, UTV, snowmobile, off-road vehicle, or applicable heavy equipment.
- Valid Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, CSO, CSTS, WHMIS, wildlife awareness, or ground-disturbance training.
- Clean driver’s abstract.
- Current legal authorization to work in the United States on field assignments.
- Ability to mobilize to U.S. project locations when required.
