Iron Alliance Athletic Centre
Toronto
Iron Alliance Athletic Centre is looking for an experienced powerlifter to join our coaching team on a part-time basis.
We are a strength-focused gym in Toronto working primarily with adults who want to become stronger, move better, and feel confident training with barbells. Our coaching model is semi-private, with approximately 2–6 clients working with a coach at one time.
We are specifically looking for someone who has a strong personal background in barbell training and powerlifting and is highly competent with the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
Previous professional coaching experience is preferred, but it is not required for the right person.
If you have spent years training, understand good lifting technique, enjoy helping other people improve, and are interested in developing your skills as a coach, we would like to hear from you.
What We’re Looking For
- Several years of consistent barbell training experience
- Strong knowledge of the squat, bench press, and deadlift
- Powerlifting experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable identifying and correcting basic technique issues
- Friendly, approachable, and patient
- Confident communicating with people of different ages and experience levels
- Reliable and qualified
- Interested in learning how to become a better coach
- Comfortable working with adults who may be newer to strength training
Our client base is primarily adults between approximately 40–60 years old, so we are looking for someone who can combine strong technical knowledge with a welcoming and encouraging coaching style.
Responsibilities
- Coach semi-private strength training sessions with 2–6 clients
- Teach and reinforce proper barbell technique
- Provide exercise modifications when required
- Help clients train safely and confidently
- Communicate clearly with clients and other coaches
- Maintain a positive and supportive gym environment
- Follow Iron Alliance coaching systems and programming
Availability We are currently hiring for part-time hours, with a particular need for:
- Weekday evenings, approximately 5:00–8:00 PM
- Potentially Saturday mornings, approximately 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
Additional hours may become available over time.
Coaching Development
We are open to hiring an experienced powerlifter who has limited formal coaching experience if they demonstrate strong technical knowledge, communication skills, professionalism, and a genuine interest in coaching.
The right candidate will receive training in our coaching systems and semi-private coaching model before independently taking on shifts.
Compensation
$25–35/hour depending on experience and coaching ability.
Paid onboarding and coach development provided.
To Apply
Please submit your resume along with a short introduction telling us:
- How long you have been strength training
- Your experience with powerlifting
- Any coaching or personal training experience
- Your current availability
- Why you are interested in coaching at a strength-focused gym
We are less interested in collecting certifications and more interested in finding someone who genuinely understands barbell training, communicates well, and wants to become an excellent coach. Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6.0 – 16.0 per week
Work Location: In person
