Our financial services client is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (10+ years) to secure and maintain Oracle database environments using Oracle Database Security technologies-41495

Location Address: Scarborough or Toronto (Distillery District)

Work arrangement: 2 days per week in the office.

Contract Duration: 1 Year (Chance of Extension)

Schedule Hours: 8:30 am-5 pm Monday-Friday (No OT)

Business group: GTEP – Voice Services

GTEP is seeking an experienced Database Analyst / Programmer specializing in Oracle Database Security to join its Enterprise Database Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing, maintaining, and enhancing Oracle database environments across the organization, ensuring compliance with enterprise security standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

This role combines deep technical Oracle DBA expertise with database security, vulnerability management, compliance, auditing, and access management responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience implementing database security controls, supporting audits, managing vulnerabilities, and maintaining highly available Oracle database environments within a regulated enterprise environment.

Accountabilities

- Research database vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies to mitigate security risks.
- Design, implement, and support Oracle database security controls and hardening standards.
- Install, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle database environments to ensure software currency and security compliance.
- Configure and support database encryption technologies including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and TLS.
- Collaborate with Information Security, Internal Audit, External Audit, and Risk teams to support compliance activities and evidence collection.
- Perform ongoing compliance monitoring, weekly controls validation, and monthly security reviews.
- Manage database access controls, user provisioning, privilege management, and role-based access control (RBAC).
- Support vulnerability assessments, remediation activities, and resolution of audit findings.
- Conduct security investigations, root cause analysis, and forensic reviews using database audit logs and monitoring tools.
- Implement and support privileged access management integrations and authentication mechanisms.
- Review newly created or migrated databases to ensure adherence to enterprise security standards.
- Develop and maintain documentation, hardening standards, operational procedures, and security runbooks.
- Stay current on emerging security threats, Oracle vulnerabilities, and industry security best practices.

Must- have requirements

- Robust Oracle DBA experience supporting Oracle 12c, 18c, and 19c environments.
- Expertise with Oracle security technologies, including:
- Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
- Oracle Database Vault
- Oracle Advanced Security
- Unified Auditing
- Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills.
- Experience with database patching, vulnerability management, and compliance controls.
- Knowledge of access management, RBAC,



LDAP/Active Directory integration, and privileged access management solutions.
- Experience supporting audit and regulatory requirements.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

- Experience with Oracle Exadata or Oracle Database Appliance (ODA).
- Cloud database security experience.
- Oracle Key Vault (OKV).
- Hardware Security Modules (HSM).
- IBM Guardium.
- Data masking and data classification solutions.
- Secure DevOps / DevSecOps practices.
- Experience in banking or highly regulated financial services environments.
- Shell scripting (Bash/Korn Shell).
- Ansible, SaltStack, or other infrastructure automation tools.
- Experience automating compliance checks, user provisioning, and patch deployments.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
