Role Summary The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for the accurate, safe, and efficient movement of materials, parts, finished goods, and supplies into, out of, and between Parklane’s Oakville facilities. This role supports daily production and project requirements by receiving and verifying incoming goods, preparing outbound shipments, maintaining organized storage areas, supporting inventory accuracy, and driving company vehicles between locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, inspect, verify, and store incoming materials, parts, supplies, and equipment in designated areas.
- Review packing slips, bills of lading, purchase orders, shipping documents, labels, and material lists to confirm accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Report damaged, missing, incorrect, or incomplete shipments to the appropriate internal teams and support timely resolution.
- Prepare, package, label, stage, and load outgoing shipments in accordance with project, customer, carrier, and internal requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Supply Chain, Project, and Operations teams to prioritize material movement and ensure parts and materials are available when needed.
- Drive company vehicles between Parklane’s two Oakville locations to transport materials, parts, supplies, tools, and equipment as required.
- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and other approved material-handling equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures and certification requirements.
- Load and unload trucks safely, ensuring materials are secured, protected, and handled in a way that prevents damage.
- Maintain accurate records of received goods, shipped items, inter-location transfers, and material movement using company processes or systems.
- Support inventory accuracy by identifying shortages, misplaced materials, excess stock, and discrepancies,
and by assisting with cycle counts or inventory checks as required.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe shipping, receiving, storage, staging, and travel areas.
- Inspect and report issues with material-handling equipment, company vehicles, rigging, slings, and related tools.
- Follow all safety, quality, housekeeping, and operational procedures while handling, transporting, storing, and moving materials.
- Support production and operations priorities by assisting with material staging, replenishment, and movement when required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid Ontario driver’s license required, with a clean or acceptable driver’s abstract -valid AR driver’s license would be an asset
- Previous experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, construction, or industrial material-handling environment preferred.
- Forklift certification required.
- Overhead crane certification required or ability to obtain certification as required by the company.
- Strong understanding of safe loading, unloading, lifting, rigging, securing, and material movement practices.
- Ability to read and understand packing slips, bills of lading, purchase orders, work orders, labels, inventory records, shipping documents, and basic production documentation.
- Computer and inventory system skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain clean, efficient, and well-controlled shipping, receiving, and storage areas.
- Reliable,
safety-focused, and able to work independently while supporting team priorities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment with changing daily priorities.
- Understanding of relevant work processes and implementing recent processes considered an asset.
Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move materials as required throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely lift and handle materials within company safety guidelines.
- Comfortable working around forklifts, cranes, production equipment, and active manufacturing operations.
- Must follow required personal protective equipment, housekeeping, and workplace safety standards at all times.
