About the Role

Automated DesignWorks (ADW) is not your typical software firm. We are a nimble engineering software startup developing design automation frameworks, bespoke scripting integrations, and advanced CAD modeling architectures that dramatically accelerate design-to-manufacturing lifecycles. We are looking for a CAD Automation Software Engineer to join us on the ground level.

At ADW, we prioritize engineering velocity, clean code, and tangible impact. You are coming in to help shape the roots of this company. Your code will directly dictate our product architecture and instantly accelerate physical manufacturing processes. You will tackle complex challenges ranging from automated assembly geometry to specialized API integrations.

We couple this high-impact execution with a supportive, highly cooperative culture. We run a fast but structured engineering environment leveraging tools like Linear for cycle tracking, GitHub for robust version control, and Notion for clear documentation. We give you the autonomy necessary to succeed while providing a clear launchpad for those ready to commit to our collective growth.

If you execute with precision and resourcefulness, your professional trajectory and ownership will scale at an equal pace.

Type of position

Full-time, Hybrid (Following a 30-day, fully in-person engineering immersion at our Woodbridge, ON office).

Responsibilities

- Actively grow your skillset in SolidWorks automation, building a deep architectural understanding of CAD APIs and how automation tools interface with complex production environments
- Develop, optimize, and maintain robust codebases to completely automate design logic and streamline intricate industrial workflows.

- Interface directly with core project stakeholders to translate highly technical, real-world manufacturing constraints into elegant, execution-ready software solutions.
- Partner closely with our core engineering team to rapidly prototype, debug, and push features from concept to production.
- Take complete ownership of your deployment pipeline, ensuring robust source control, clean documentation, and thorough validation against design requirements.

You Will Thrive at ADW if you…

- You are resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity, and figure out how to bridge the gap between problem and solution.
- You take immense pride in the quality of your craft. You want to see your designs transition into the real world quickly and impact physical products in a profound way.
- You learn new systems at a fast pace and confidently make high-quality engineering decisions under tight timelines.
- You can break down complex programming logic and collaborate cleanly with a close-knit, fast-paced team.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of professional C#.NET experience, specifically with a focus on desktop application development, COM interop, or interfacing with complex 3rd-party APIs (required).
- Professional experience with React and TypeScript, with an understanding of how to bridge modern web frontends with desktop client architectures.

- Hands-on experience with the Electron framework is a strong asset.
- Prior experience with the SolidWorks API (or general CAD modeling platforms) is highly valued, but we provide the frameworks and mentorship to train the right developer on the job.

The Many Benefits of Working at ADW

- A high-collaboration workspace where your ideas win and your voice directly dictates product choices.
- A tight-knit team of passionate specialists who share engineering expertise freely.
- A competitive salary paired with a robust health benefits package (Vision, Dental, Medical Prescriptions, etc.).
- A flexible hybrid schedule supported by an in-person accelerator. We set you up for success with an initial 30-day in-office immersion to master SolidWorks APIs alongside the core team, seamlessly transitioning into your long-term hybrid routine.
