We are a locally owned and operated dollar store in Nelson looking for a reliable, experienced and hands-on Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our store.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, supervise, train, motivate and support the store team.
- Recruit and onboard new employees and address performance or disciplinary issues as required.
- Prepare staff schedules according to business needs.
- Ensure store policies, procedures and safety standards are followed.
- Work alongside the team with cashiering, stocking, receiving, cleaning and general store duties.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures.
- Handle daily cash, cash register procedures, cash reconciliation and deposits.
- Help prevent theft, loss, damage and inventory shrinkage.
- Order, receive, organize and maintain inventory.
- Monitor product availability and identify opportunities for new merchandise.
- Order seasonal merchandise and attend annual trade shows as required.
- Maintain attractive, organized and well-stocked displays and shelves.
- Monitor sales and look for ways to improve store performance.
- Handle customer questions and complaints professionally.
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming store environment.
- Report daily and monthly sales to the owner.
- Communicate regularly with the owner regarding staffing, inventory, sales and store operations.




- Actively promote the business and build positive relationships within the Nelson community.

What We're Looking For
- Previous retail management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and customer-service skills.
- Experience with inventory ordering, receiving and merchandising is an asset.
- Experience with cash handling is an asset.
- Organized, dependable and able to work independently.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a busy, hands-on retail environment.
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift/carry and stock merchandise.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Experience working in a small or independently owned business is an asset.
