At Rainforest Adventure Camps, we believe in the power of play. We are a community-focused non-profit dedicated to further developing participants’ resilience, empathy, social growth, and independence in a fun and peaceful setting. Who You Are: You are a "people person" through and through. You’re the one who anticipates the needs of your team and stays patient and kind even when the weather isn't perfect. You are kind, calm, patient, creative, productive, reliable, dedicated, take initiative, and love to build relationships and community.
- A Natural Leader: You have experience actively leading large groups of kids ages 5-12 in a recreational setting professionally for a minimum of 300 hours. Ideally, you have also led other staff and volunteers as well.
- Safety-First: You’re a pro at managing groups near water (lakes and pools), and ensuring everyone's safety, wellness, and engagement.
- Community Builder: You thrive on building positive relationships with parents, kids, youth, staff, volunteers, and the community.
- Resourceful: You have a "toolbox" full of games and activities ready to go.
Prerequisites:
- Elementary School Teacher, Camp Coordinator, OR at least 300+ hours leading large groups of children professionally.
- Current Police Information Check & First Aid Certification.
- Teacher, Lifeguard, EA, or ECE certifications are a major asset
What Your Days Will Look Like:
- Lead the Adventure: Collaboratively lead games and activities at beautiful spots like White Pine Beach and Coquitlam River.
- Navigate the Day: Supervise camp, ensure safety around water, and de-escalate challenges with a calm, respectful approach.
Train and mentor staff and volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Camp Coordinator and Camp Director along with Admin, Camp Leaders, and Volunteers.
- The position will be outdoors, guiding camps. It is suited for someone with extensive experience and training who will act as a lead guide at one of our camps.
- This is a very active role that actively participates in all activities. There is no admin.
- Some of our Assistant Coordinators, if desired, may lead our smaller, newer camps.
Locations: We have 14 camps across Metro Vancouver, including Vancouver, Burnaby, New West, Maple Ridge, Coquitlam, South Surrey, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, and North Vancouver. - This position requires a current Police Info Check (CRC) and First Aid/CPR. Please confirm if you have these. If you don't have a Police Info Check in your possession, it won't be ready in time for the last week of summer camp.
- How many hundreds of hours of professional experience do you have leading large groups of 10-12 kids ages 6-12 in a recreational setting? What did you do? Please only apply if you have at least 300 hours of professional experience leading large groups.
