The Tax Specialist provides individuals and corporations with effective strategies to help minimize their tax burden. They independently handle moderately complex engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and apply Canadian tax laws and regulations. Identify, analyze, and document various tax positions, including risk assessment and the formulation of appropriate conclusions.
- Participate in tax audits, disputes, and negotiations with tax authorities.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize clients' business objectives and growth opportunities.
- Provide tax compliance and planning services to Canadian companies conducting business in the United States.
- Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts, as well as related tax forms.
- Conduct technical tax research and draft analyses and recommendations.
- Participate in developing tax training content and serve as an internal resource person or trainer.
- Perform other related duties.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in tax (M. Fisc.), or CPA in depth tax course
- 2-3 years of experience in Canadian tax compliance.
- CPA title, an asset.
LANGUAGE AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
- Advanced French and English.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Advanced knowledge of Taxprep, DtMax, and CCH.
- In-depth Canadian tax knowledge.
- General accounting knowledge.
