Senior Technical Product Manager
Computer Vision, Mechatronics & Intelligent Transportation
Location: Ontario, Canada | Hybrid, 3 days onsite
Salary: CAD $140k-$200k base A profitable, growing AI and computer vision company is hiring a Senior Technical Product Manager to take complete ownership of its flagship Vehicle Occupancy Detection product.
This is not a traditional software product management role. You will own a real-world mechatronic system combining imaging hardware, optical sensors, edge AI, cloud infrastructure, and roadside installation.
The product is already commercially proven and consistently performs strongly against global competitors in independent testing. With accelerating customer demand and revenue expected to double again this year, the company is looking for someone who can inherit the existing platform while driving its next stage of technical and commercial development.
The Opportunity The Vehicle Occupancy Detection system uses roadside camera technology to accurately identify and count vehicle occupants, supporting the encouragement of HOV and HOT lanes.
You will be joining a highly technical team of approximately 15 people and replacing the individual who has built and led the product for the past six years. The platform could be maintained in its current form, but the goal is to continue improving its performance, ease of installation, customer integration, and long-term commercial value.
There may also be opportunities to contribute across the company’s other computer vision product lines once established in the role.
What they're Looking For:
- Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics Engineering,
or a closely related discipline
- Robust industry experience with mechatronic hardware and physical sensor selection
- Experience selecting or integrating: cameras, optical systems, illumination equipment, LiDAR, perception sensors, or other imaging hardware
- Background in any of: intelligent transportation systems, robotics, automotive technology, embedded systems, computer vision, or a similar field
- Experience with SolidWorks or another professional CAD platform
- Programming experience with Python or a comparable language
- Systems engineering knowledge and strong technical documentation skills
- Experience working with suppliers, integrators, and commercially available hardware components
- Field engineering, commissioning, physical installation, or customer-facing mechatronic demonstration experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with both highly technical engineers and customer-side field teams
What You’ll Do
- Own the complete product lifecycle, connecting long-term strategy with hands-on engineering and field execution
- Maintain and evolve the product roadmap using customer feedback, operational data, and developments in computer vision and edge computing
- Lead the selection and integration of cameras, optical sensors, illuminators, LiDAR, industrial computers, and supporting hardware
- Own mechanical design and installation requirements using SolidWorks or a similar CAD platform
- Coordinate execution across hardware, edge AI, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing software
- Work directly with customers, road operators, field technicians, suppliers, and systems integrators
