Patient Care Manager Cardiopulmonary/Acute Med-ALC Temporary Full Time (6 months) Cardiology Inpatient Medicine 8 Hour Shifts

The Patient Care

Manager (PCM), Cardiopulmonary/Acute Medicine-ALC reports to the Clinical Director, Medicine Program, and is responsible for the management of inpatient and ambulatory clinical service areas, including the Heart Function Clinic, Pacemaker Clinic and Cardiac Diagnostics, providing visible leadership to the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care, operational effectiveness and achievement of program objectives. Working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team, the PCM uses effective planning, budgeting and problem-solving skills to support the development of unit processes, effective staff management, operational efficiencies and optimization of interdisciplinary team functioning. As a transformational leader, the PCM promotes innovation, evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement while ensuring the effective management of human, financial and physical resources.

The PCM supports strategic and performance improvement initiatives that advance excellence in patient-centred care and staff engagement.



Undergraduate degree in a health related discipline or a business related degree required (Masters preferred)

- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in quality improvement development, implementation and evaluation required
- Educational preparation in quality improvement, certificate in quality improvement or equivalent in the use of quality improvement methods and tools
- Recent experience in medical/surgical patient care required
- Proven management skills including financial management, budgeting, utilization management, operational planning, quality improvement and evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to lead effectively, build solid teams and create a high-performance culture that supports staff growth and development
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and SharePoint, and healthcare-related software and programs
- Must have a satisfactory performance record
