We are currently looking for Transportation Safety and Compliance Officer in our Acheson location.

Responsibilities

- Develops and implements vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance programs
- Maintain COR Certification
- Oversee safety and maintenance records of commercial trucks and drivers of the company
- Planning, organizing, and directing the work to meet objectives with the most efficient use of personnel, facilities and equipment
- Regularly communicating with Management, Safety & Compliance, and dispatch regarding status of equipment. Submitting regular reports including, road calls, break downs, accidents and performance
- Recommending reductions or additions to personnel, facilities and equipment and changes in level of service
- Audit Driver Logs and provide re-training or discipline where necessary
- Ensure all vehicle accidents are accurately recorded and investigated with claim forms submitted to the Safety & Compliance Officer
- Manage the processes for obtaining damage estimates and the carrying out of repairs




- Compliance with all fleet and transport regulations
- Thorough knowledge of all DOT Rules and Regulations regarding driving and driver responsibilities
- Monitoring and staying current with all federal and provincial safety regulations
- Renewing and reviewing DVIR Daily
- Reviewing all driver abstracts monthly
- Analyze and generate reports as required
- Run quarterly safety meetings with all drivers and owner operators
- Review and follow up with all traffic tickets, warnings, convictions or accidents and CVSA Inspection
- Onboarding of new drivers and ensuring all contracts are signed and reviewed and all documentation is filed with each new driver.
- Work with the Yard/Fleet manager to maintain all owner operator safety and inspection records
- Follow all accident procedures and file claims with insurance. Follow up with insurance company about on-going claims. Follow up with drivers to fill out all forms and provide any re-training
- Process all Prorate plate renewals for drivers and owner operators
- Complete maintenance and repair records as required
- Conduct Daily Tool Box Meeting
- Conduct Monthly Facility Inspection as required by COR Audit
- Conduct JHS Meeting & Follow ups

Requirements

- 2 - 5 years’ experience in a transportation environment.
- Experience working with company drivers, owner operators and third-party carriers.
- Operation and Hours of service experience
- Knowledge of the logistics, supply chain and/or transportation industry.
- Class 1 CDL license preferred with hands on driving experience both mountains and prairies.
- Knowledge of COR certification and auditing preferred
- Understanding of US/Canada driver fleet requirements

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
