Position Overview

The Vocational Counsellor - Community Inclusion & Employment Services supports individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based setting to achieve meaningful employment, lifelong learning, and full community inclusion. The typical schedule is 30 hours/weekly between Monday to Friday, day shifts between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, with flexibility required for occasional evenings and weekends based on program needs. An essential part of this role involves managing active caseload and achieving employment outcome targets. This role focuses on assisting individuals to explore career interests, develop employment skills, and build capacity for increased independence through person-centered, strengths-based planning. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, you will provide comprehensive employment, learning, inclusion, and relationship-based supports using a person-centered, strengths-based approach. In this role, you will work directly with individuals to explore career interests, identify employment and community goals, develop vocational and life skills, and support successful job placement and maintenance. This includes on-the-job coaching, skill development, and fostering long-term employment success.

You will also build and maintain relationships with local employers and community partners, promoting inclusive hiring practices and the mission of Inclusion Langley Society within the business community. Through facilitation, coaching, and hands-on community-based support,



you will help individuals build confidence, independence, and sustainable pathways to inclusive employment and community participation.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individualized vocational and community inclusion support aligned with service plans.
- Support individuals to identify, develop, and achieve employment and vocational goals through person-centered planning and ongoing goal review.
- Provide job development and employment support including resume building, job search, applications, interview preparation, and workplace readiness coaching.
- Deliver individualized job coaching and skill development in community and worksite settings using strengths-based and adaptive teaching approaches.
- Engage employers and community partners to create inclusive employment opportunities, including job carving and customized employment strategies.
- Support community inclusion and lifelong learning by connecting individuals to meaningful activities, relationships, and skill-building opportunities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, participate in planning meetings, and collaborate with supervisors and support networks to ensure coordinated service delivery.

Qualifications

- Diploma in Community Social Services or a related field; A combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Minimum one year of direct support experience supporting individuals with disabilities in employment, vocational training, or community inclusion settings.
- Knowledge of supported employment, job coaching, and person-centered planning practices.
- Experience in resume development, job search support, or employer engagement is an asset.
- Strong understanding of community resources, inclusion practices,



and barrier-free employment supports.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills.
- Ability to motivate, teach, and support individuals using multiple learning styles.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple individualized employment plans.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently in community-based environments.

Requirements

- This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.
- Valid Intermediate First Aid (or ability to obtain), Food Safe, and TB Health Certificate.
- Weekends and evening shifts are a requirement of this position.

Additional Position Information

- This position is temporary with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2026. Please note that this end date is tentative and may be amended based on operational and organizational needs.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, including the ability to transition between individuals and other Community Inclusion services as operation needs evolve.
