About the role:
We are seeking a Workday Lead/Analyst – Absence to support the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Workday Absence Management and Core HCM. This role will partner closely with HR, Legal, and internal application teams to ensure absence plans, leave policies, and employee data are accurately maintained, compliant, and aligned with company policy.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Workday Absence and HCM configuration, and can independently manage absence and leave plan setup end-to-end, including accrual logic, carryover rules, and leave of absence management, with minimal oversight.
The Role - Workday Functional Lead/Analyst – Absence
Responsibilities:
Configure, maintain, and optimize absence plans, accrual policies, carryover rules, and time off types in Workday
Support Core HCM configuration, including organization management, job and position data, and business process setup
Troubleshoot and resolve absence and HCM-related system issues, as well as employee and manager inquiries
Partner with HR and Legal to translate policy updates and business requirements into accurate Workday configuration
Collaborate with internal application teams to support absence-related data flows and assess downstream system impacts
Perform and support EIB data loads for absence balance adjustments, corrections, and related data maintenance
Participate in Workday bi-annual release reviews, evaluating the impact of new functionality on absence and HCM processes
Document configuration decisions, business processes, testing scenarios, and test scripts
Support audits, exception reporting, and data validation efforts to ensure data integrity and compliance
Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, usability, and process consistency across Workday Absence and HCM
Requirements
5+ years of Workday experience with hands-on configuration in Absence Management and Core HCM
Proven ability to independently configure absence and leave plans end-to-end, including:
- accrual logic
- carryover rules
- time off plan design
- leave of absence management
Experience supporting Core HCM structures and business processes Hands-on experience troubleshooting Workday functional issues and resolving configuration-related problems
Experience with EIB data loads, data corrections, and balance adjustments
Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into effective Workday configuration
Solid communication skills with the ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Good to have
Experience working closely with HR, Legal, Payroll, or HRIS teams
Familiarity with compliance considerations related to absence policies and employee data management
Experience supporting Workday releases, regression testing, and impact assessments
Strong documentation and process improvement skills
Experience in large or complex enterprise environments
