Job Description:

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Under the general supervision of an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist or Registered Nurse, and as a member of a team-oriented multidisciplinary health care team, the Rehabilitation Assistant assists patients/clients/residents with rehabilitation activities and activities of daily living.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program plus one (1) year recent, related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills And Abilities

- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Deal with others effectively.
- Physically carry out the duties of the position.
- Organize work.
- Operate related equipment.
