Job Summary

This position requires the incumbent to assist the teacher librarian and/or the school administration with functions required to operate the school library. The Library Assistant position supports the strategic actions of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

Qualifications (Education and Experience)

- Completion of post-secondary training in a Library Program. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of how learning resources (books, periodicals, kits, audio-visual, subscription databases, equipment, realia) are organized in a school library and circulated in print and electronic formats.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge and experience with computer technology (Internet research, resource management).




- Assist students and staff in the technical troubleshooting of minor hardware and instructional software problems.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
- Ability to interact effectively with students and staff, combined with an ability to explain information regarding library services to all patrons using the school library learning commons.
- Excellent verbal and written skills are required.
