Indigenous Relations Analyst
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Indigenous Relations, the Indigenous Relations Analyst is responsible for identifying and implementing strategies that align with strategic business areas and providing support in meeting the goals and objectives of the Commission. They provide input to the development of strategies, plans, processes and practices, and participate in strategic initiatives that support the commission’s work in creating effective working relationships and reconciliation activities with the Indigenous community. The position supports the Director in working collaboratively with all Branches and external entities to ensure success of programs and initiatives for the Indigenous community.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Public Policy and Planning, Public Administration or a related field.
Considerable experience in strategy development, project management and the design, analysis and evaluation of policies and programs.
Considerable experience connecting with and working effectively with the BC Indigenous community.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the Employer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of Indigenous cultures and the issues facing the sector with respect to housing and community support.
Considerable knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices and standards related to Indigenous housing programs and services.
Sound knowledge of the affordable housing sector in the province of BC.
Ability to learn and understand departmental policies and procedures and the Commission’s mandate and programs and their relevance to the Indigenous sector.
Ability to demonstrate a high level of self‑awareness, empathy and emotional intelligence.
Ability to generate and articulate creative current ideas/processes, and develop, plan, facilitate and coordinate their execution.
Ability to work with and lead project teams, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive matters.
Ability to use sound judgement in analysing problems and identifying weaknesses and conflicts in policies and procedures.
Ability to be sensitive to the diverse perspectives of stakeholders and works with them to resolve differences and work cohesively together.
Ability to establish a high level of rapport with staff, management/senior management, Executive, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated professional and interpersonal communication skills across a range of channels (written, oral, presentation) and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional groups to achieve common goals.
Excellent project leadership and project management skills.
Strategic and analytical thinking, problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
