Role Overview
The Underground Mechanical Technician plays a critical role in supporting the reliability and performance of underground emulsion charging systems and related equipment. This role provides essential technical support to maintain and optimise these systems, ensuring uninterrupted emulsion delivery to the client's production. The role will be accountable for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing the mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems integral to BME's operations, ensuring the reliability that underpins BME's reputation for technical competence.
Responsibilities
Maintain and repair both fixed and mobile equipment across various sites.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems related to plant operations.
Support operational reliability and safety standards.
Complete and submit maintenance sheets, service reports and parts usage logs.
Monitor critical spares and consumables.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders regarding repairs and logistics.
Ensure all technical standards are adhered to.
Identify and implement continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications
High School Diploma.
Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma.
Minimum 3 years’ experience maintaining mobile and fixed plant equipment.
Mining industry experience.
Familiarity with BME’s systems and processes.
Demonstrated expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting.
Planning and Organizing.
Proven ability to lead and train small teams.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Solid understanding of operational best practices and regulatory standards.
