The Team Leader, Custodial
The Team Leader, Custodial is responsible for overseeing the custodial operations of a number of J.D. Irving, Limited properties in Saint John, NB, including the head office. The role ensures a clean, safe, and orderly environment and requires robust leadership to manage a team of custodial staff and contractors while maintaining high work quality.
Responsibilities
Oversee a team of 17 individuals at the head office building.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
Plan and prioritize daily custodial tasks such as cleaning offices, common areas, restrooms, and other designated spaces.
Inspect facilities regularly to ensure cleanliness and address any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and coordinate replenishment as needed.
Respond to feedback and address concerns from building occupants regarding custodial services.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies related to custodial operations.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Trade Certification.
5+ years of experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Schedule & Hours
Shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
Ability to work evenings is required.
