Surrey School District seeks a temporary Indigenous District Cultural Facilitator to drive cultural education initiatives. This position aims to foster students' knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and histories.
The Indigenous District Cultural Facilitator will work collaboratively with classroom teachers and school administrators to design programs dedicated to the study of the Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Metis cultures. Your efforts will enhance students' learning experiences while promoting an inclusive educational setting that values diversity and equity across the school district.
Key Responsibilities:
Enhance knowledge of Indigenous cultures among students
Work with teachers to support cultural curriculum integration
Promote cultural activities within the school community
Facilitate community engagement and parent involvement
Keep records on educational services delivered
Requirements:
In-depth understanding of Coast Salish Indigenous cultures
At least one year of relevant facilitation experience
Completion of high school and related post-secondary education
Valid B.C. Driver's license
Indigenous ancestry is a condition of employment
