Governance Events and Engagement Coordinator

The Council of the Haida Nation (CHN) is responsible for the stewardship of lands, waters, and people. Working with CHN means being part of a team that values collaboration, cultural knowledge, and meaningful contributions to the well‑being of the Haida Nation. About the Role

Reporting to the Governance Director, The Governance Events and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end planning and coordination of Council of the Haida Nation public meetings, events and regional leadership support. Focusing on building partnerships with local governments. The Coordinator will work closely with elected leaders of each region to support regional engagements and gatherings for Haida citizens. Additionally, the Coordinator will be required to seek grants and proposals that are available for the nation to support governance, strategic planning and team building. Key Duties & Responsibilities

Establish standardized procedures for organizational planning with Haida ways of being as the foundation Inventory management of all supplies needed for meetings and events Create advertisements, posters, and collaborate with Communications Department Effective collaboration with internal and external partners Establish and maintain a regional registry to support with information and resource distributions,



working with the Citizenship Program Work directly with the governance team and elected leaders supporting regional gatherings and potential food fish distribution Proposal and grant writing (Training available through CHN) Analyze, report and make recommendations for future events Schedule debriefing sessions with involved partners after each event Ensure all CHN policies and procedures are adhered to Qualifications & Skills

Knowledge of Haida culture, politics and social structures Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Council of the Haida Nation Excellent people skills, with a collaborative approach to work. Detail-oriented with the ability to adapt to a changing work environment effectively and efficiently. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally Proven capacity/experience in event planning Class 5 Drivers License Preference will be given to Haida candidates as per Section 41 of the Human Rights Code. What We Offer

Hourly rate: $34.00 - $39.14 Full time (35–40 hrs/week) with paid time off, including an additional 2-week office closure during the winter break.
