Our client in the Property & Casualty Insurance industry is sourcing a senior accountant for a 6-month contract. The role is hybrid, based out of Toronto.

About the Opportunity

Manage full cycle accounting duties, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules in accordance with month-end deadlines

Prepare and analyze account reconciliations for designated client accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner

Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including variance analysis and reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial results

Assist with the preparation of tax filings and other government-related reporting requirements (e.g., HST, premium tax)

Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and supporting working papers as needed

Liaise with internal stakeholders and external auditors to support audit requests and inquiries

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls within the reconciliation and reporting cycle

Provide support to the VP, Accounting on ad hoc projects, analysis, and reporting requests as they arise

About You

3+ years of P&C; insurance industry experience

Full cycle accounting experience including financial reporting, month end reporting, etc.

CPA designation is an asset but not required

Must be proficient with dealing with a large volume of reconciliations

Proficient with cash management and aging follow ups
