POSITION TITLE: Manager, Sanford Apartments (Temporary, Full-Time)

PROGRAM: Sanford Apartments

SALARY RANGE: $72,000 - $88,000

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and as operationally required

DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT: Until return of incumbent

REPORTS TO: Director, Operations

SUPERVISES: Mental Health Workers

NON-CONTRACT ROLE DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Manager, Sanford Apartments

REPORTS TO: Director, Operations

SUPERVISES: Sanford staff

ROLE SUMMARY

The Manageroverseesthe daily operation of the programandall aspects of program

delivery,including the development and fostering of effective and collaborative relationships

with program participants, staff,fundersand related community services.

Under the direction of the Operations Director, the Manager is responsible for the safe andefficient operation and management of theprogram,includingclient care, staffing,risk management,property management and administration,in accordance with the ResidentialTenancyAct and guidelines provided by Vancouver Coastal Mental Health Housing Services, BC Housing, and the City of Vancouver.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Oversees the coordination of the physical and mental health of clients, including the protected distribution of medication, nutritional services and client record keeping, clinical reports and confidential documents. Liaises with client’s family members, medical staff, Mental Health Teams and other community health professionals and agencies. Ensuresappropriate interventionsas necessary, including crisis management, after-hours emergency mental/ physical or program consultation to front line staff, and critical incident debriefing asrequired.

In alignment with the MPA Society Strategic Plan, works with the Director to develop, implement and evaluate the program’s operational plan and annual goals,and implements new initiatives,programsand services.



Designsandmonitorsdesired outcomes and measurement indicators.Identifiesand responds to areas of risk management to ensure that the program meets the requirements ofan appropriate accreditationbody.Evaluatesspecific program components andpreparesregular reportsand statisticsas required by funders and MPA Society.

In conjunction with theOperationsDirector, interviews, hires,orientsand trains suitable staff. Providesleadership and direction to direct reports,fosters effective teamwork, andprovides ongoingperformance feedback includingprobationary and annual performancereviews.Identifiesstaff trainingneeds and opportunities and providesor coordinatestraining.Participates in the disciplinary process and grievance process in consultation with the Director and Human Resources.Recommendsappropriate staffinglevels and essential services levels.Solicits and orients volunteers and student placements for post-secondary institutions within established agency guidelines,policiesand protocols. Ensures Human Resources procedures arefollowed andcompletespayrolland schedulingtasks.

Incollaborationwith the Operations Director, reviewsprogramrequirements and provides details for the preparation of the annual budget. Monitors and addresses anomalies in expenditures according with approved budget limits. Works with the Operations Director toinitiateand recommend budget adjustments and policy development. Liaises with Sanford Housing Society to develop a5 yearcapital plan and to review this annually, ensures ongoing upkeep of the designated project, and oversees the cleaning and sanitation plans of and property issues for the project.

Represents the program at community activities to enhance the organization’s community profile. Establishes positive working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization.



Communicates with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the organization and to identify changes in the community served by the organization.

Performs other related duties, participates in special projects, and addresses business issues as assigned by the Operations Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of education,trainingand experience equivalent to aBachelor’s degree in Social Scienceplus 5 years’experience in mentalhealth including 2 years at a supervisory level and 1 year in program development. Experience in front line service delivery, crisis intervention, debriefing and support, conflictresolutionand case planning.

Knowledge ofpsychosocialrehabilitation, mental illness and treatment modalities and new developments in mental health.Goodunderstanding of community and social services in the Metro Vancouver area.

Ability to define priorities and manage time effectively in dealing with multiple priorities

Demonstrated knowledge ofhuman resources practices in a union environment

Highly developed critical thinking, analytical andproblem solvingskills

Strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills

Proficiencyin Microsoft Office

Current First Aid/ CPR certificate

Valid British Columbia driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle

Training in crisis management

Successful completion of a criminal record check
