Position Title: Bilingual HR Generalist Salary & Benefits: 61K-67K, benefits, 4 weeks vacation Position Status: Current Vacancy Location: Gatineau, QC Work Model: ONSITE
Our client is a long-standing, mission-driven non‑profit organization provides comprehensive animal-welfare services to its regional community. It operates a full-service shelter that offers medical care, behavioral support, and adoption programs for vulnerable animals, while also managing lost-and-found services, intake of stray or surrendered pets, and public education initiatives. The organization maintains an enforcement and outreach team responsible for responding to cases of neglect or abuse and supporting compliance with local animal-welfare regulations. As a charitable entity, it relies on community partnerships and donor support to advance its core mission of protecting animals, promoting responsible pet ownership, and giving at‑risk animals a protected path to recovery and a second chance.
As a Bilingual Human Resources Generalist, you'll play a pivotal role in a mission-driven organization known for its community impact and energized by a passionate, cooperative team. You'll help shape a modern, people-focused HR function while working in an environment that values flexibility, professional growth, and meaningful contribution.
Key Responsibilities HR Operations & Administration Oversee daily HR activities and respond to employee and manager inquiries
Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
Administer benefits, leaves, absences, and Records of Employment




Ensure compliance with internal policies and labour standards
Recruitment & Onboarding
Lead job postings, candidate screening, and recruitment processes
Coordinate onboarding and integration of new employees
Support managers with workforce planning and staffing needs
Volunteer Program Support Manage volunteer recruitment, posting, and selection
Welcome, orient, and integrate new volunteers
Maintain volunteer files and databases
Assist teams with volunteer scheduling for daily operations and events
Support recognition and retention initiatives for the volunteer community
Employee Development & Manager Support Coordinate training, skills development, and performance evaluation activities
Contribute to engagement and quality-of-work-life initiatives
Guide managers in applying HR policies and best practices
Health & Safety Manage administrative follow-up for CNESST files
Participate in prevention efforts and help maintain a safe work environment
HR Communications & Projects Support internal HR communications
Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Perform related tasks that ensure smooth and efficient HR operations




The ideal candidate is a bilingual (French primary language) HR professional with a solid academic foundation in human resources or industrial relations and at least two years of hands-on generalist experience. They bring strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. Skilled in French communication—both written and verbal—they excel at building relationships, supporting managers, and contributing to a positive employee experience. Their technical abilities, from Microsoft Office to HR platforms, complement their collaborative mindset, discretion, and eagerness to learn and grow.
What would make someone stand out: Fluency in French, and strong English
A professional HR designation such as CRHA/CRIA or CHRP
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements or streamline HR operations
Exceptional interpersonal skills paired with diplomacy, active listening, and a proactive approach to problem-solvin
