Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthoptist to join our Ophthalmology Clinic team at the Hotel Dieu Hospital site.

Working within a highly specialized ambulatory care environment, you will support Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Adult Strabismus, and Neuro-Ophthalmology services , playing a critical role in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with disorders of the visual system and eye motility.

As a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with ophthalmologists, residents, learners, and allied health professionals while practicing independently within your professional scope.

What You'll Do

Perform comprehensive ocular assessments, including history taking, visual acuity testing, refraction, sensory testing, pupil assessment, applanation tonometry, and extra-ocular muscle evaluations

Interpret test results and provide recommendations for patient treatment and management

Independently assess patients and contribute to care planning within Orthoptic Clinics

Collaborate with ophthalmologists regarding medical and surgical treatment options

Educate patients and families about ocular conditions and treatment plans

Provide contact lens therapy and support specialized patient care needs





Support the education and training of Ophthalmology Residents, medical students, and other learners

Participate in a collaborative patient-centred care environment focused on clinical excellence

What You'll Bring

Certified Orthoptist and graduate of an accredited Orthoptic Program

Membership, or eligibility for membership, with the Canadian Orthoptic Council

Current BCLS certification

Recent related clinical experience

Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills

Ability to work effectively with children, developmentally delayed patients, and their families

Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Commitment to maintaining high clinical standards and ongoing professional development

Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
