Engage in transformative research at the forefront of nuclear technologies with a PhD focused on HALEU criticality modelling. This fully funded role offers a competitive stipend and valuable industrial collaboration.

The scholarship, lasting 3.5 years with a start date in October 2026, is open to Home rate students. You will explore criticality safety through computational methods, while developing detailed models that will enhance understanding of nuclear fuel operations. Your work will directly impact future UK fuel cycle design and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop models for uranium hexafluoride deconversion stage
• Investigate neutron behaviour affecting criticality
• Collaborate with leading specialists from the nuclear sector




• Participate in visits to relevant research facilities
• Enhance your skills in Monte Carlo simulation methods

Requirements:
• Relevant honours degree or master's qualification
• Interest or background in nuclear engineering or science
• Experience in computational modelling is advantageous
• Willingness to engage in cooperative research
• Enthusiasm for advancing nuclear safety knowledge
