Our 24-month CPA Tax Rotational Program is designed to provide aspiring CPAs with hands‑on experience across multiple areas of tax while supporting the practical experience requirements needed for CPA designation. As part of this rotational experience, you will have the opportunity to work across a range of service lines, such as U.S. Corporate Tax, Cross-Border Personal Tax, Indirect Tax, Audit and Privately Held Business . While individual experiences may vary, each is designed to broaden your technical skills, expand your business knowledge, and help you discover areas that align with your interests and career goals. You’ll work closely with clients and team members to build strong relationships and deliver exceptional client service.
Working alongside experienced tax professionals, you will receive coaching, mentorship, technical training, and meaningful client exposure that will accelerate your development and prepare you for long‑term success in your career at Doane Grant Thornton. At the end of this rotational program, you will be able to choose your path to further specialize in an area of tax.
What You Can Expect Over a 24-month period, you will rotate through areas that include:
U.S. Corporate Tax Gain exposure to the tax needs of Canadian businesses operating in the United States and U.S.-based organizations doing business in Canada.
As an entry-level associate, you will: Help prepare tax filings for companies that operate in Canada and the United States
Research tax rules and help determine how they apply when businesses buy, sell, invest, or operate across borders
Collect, organize, and review financial information provided by clients
Work with experienced team members to help clients meet their tax obligations and identify opportunities to plan for future tax needs to help them thrive
Cross-Border Personal Tax Develop an understanding of the unique tax considerations impacting individuals who live, work, invest, or relocate across Canada and the United States.
As an entry-level associate, you will: Assist with the preparation of Canadian and U.S. personal income tax returns.
Support the analysis of residency and mobility-related tax matters.
Research tax implications affecting expatriates and internationally mobile employees.
Participate in client engagements involving personal tax compliance and planning.
Indirect Tax Learn how sales taxes, value-added taxes, and other indirect taxes impact businesses across industries.
As an entry-level associate, you will: Assist with GST/HST compliance and advisory engagements.
Support indirect tax reviews and client research projects.
Help prepare documentation and recommendations for clients.
Support indirect tax audits, assessments, and correspondence with tax authorities
Assurance, Audit Gain insight into how businesses operate while helping clients build confidence in their financial reporting through audit and other assurance engagements.
As an entry-level associate, you will: Assist with financial statement audits and assurance engagements for clients across a variety of industries
Perform testing procedures and analyze financial information
Document audit findings and support to the preparation of working papers and client deliverables
Collaborate with engagement teams to understand client operations, processes, and key business risks
Assurance, Privately Held Business Work closely with entrepreneurial and privately owned businesses, gaining exposure to accounting, assurance, advisory, and tax considerations that support business growth and success.
As an entry-level associate, you will: Completion of T1s (personal tax returns), T2s (Corporation tax returns)
and T3s (Trust returns) and responding to related CRA requests for information
Assist with review and compilation assurance engagements for businesses across a range of industries
Analyze financial information and help identify opportunities to improve business performance
Prepare financial statements and supporting working papers

Who We're Looking For You are currently pursuing your post-secondary degree and have demonstrated academic excellence
You are committed to pursuing the CPA designation and completing the relevant pre-requisites
