Enhance legal literacy for newcomers as a full time Legal Navigation Counsellor in Saskatoon. Deliver comprehensive support to empower clients in understanding legal processes.
This position, reporting to the Director of Settlement and Family Services, provides essential education on employment, family, and tenancy laws tailored to newcomers. Collaboration across units and addressing language barriers through interpretation support are key aspects of this role, which aims to build staff capacity in recognizing legal challenges early.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide educational support on legal matters to clients
• Assist in navigating Saskatchewan's legal landscape
• Collaborate with other units for effective service delivery
• Facilitate and present workshops on relevant topics
• Conduct legal research to enhance client support
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social sciences
• One to two years of experience in legal counseling
• Knowledge of Saskatchewan's legal system preferred
• Strong communication and reporting skills
• Experience with client presentations and workshops
