Java Holdings Ltd. owns a portfolio of companies and provides high-level execution support for large utility, oil and gas, and power generation projects, with a focus on EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Management) services. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Developer to join our growing software development team in the Edmonton or Calgary area.
In this role, you will independently deliver high-quality software features, support production systems, and help configure business-critical workflows and integrations. You will work within established architecture and engineering standards while contributing practical ideas to improve quality, reliability, and team effectiveness.
This position is designed for a mid-level developer with 3-5 years of qualified experience who is comfortable taking ownership of assigned work, collaborating with technical and business stakeholders, and escalating risks or design gaps when needed.
What You’ll Do Develop and deliver assigned front-end components, back-end services, APIs, and application features
Write clean, maintainable, secure, and well-documented code in accordance with team standards and established architectural patterns
Create and maintain automated tests to support solution quality and reliable releases
Troubleshoot and resolve defects, production issues, and application performance concerns
Participate in peer code reviews, sprint planning, refinement, testing, and release activities
Work with React, C#/.NET, RESTful APIs, Entity Framework Core, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL
Configure internal and external systems to meet documented project requirements, including complex business rules and digital quality documentation
Configure integrations using approved tools, patterns, and standards, and elevate gaps or new integration needs to senior technical resources




Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, identify implementation considerations, and support User Acceptance Testing
Maintain technical documentation and provide system training or user guidance when required
Communicate risks, blockers, and concerns promptly while adapting to evolving requirements and priorities

Requirements 3-5 years of professional software development experience




Proficiency in JavaScript and React for front-end development
Experience with C# and .NET for back-end development
Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server
Experience building or supporting RESTful APIs and modern web applications
Experience using Entity Framework Core or a comparable object-relational mapping framework
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting production systems
Ability to understand how application components, services, integrations, and data fit together
Ability to independently deliver assigned features while following technical direction and established standards
Clear communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and effective collaboration skills
Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities
Ability to travel internationally for site visits and system rollouts when required
Nice to Have Integration development experience, including system-to-system data flows and scheduled processing
Experience with Hangfire or a similar background job scheduling framework
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, source control practices, and DevOps workflows
Experience with personnel management, employee record, occupational health and safety, or construction-tracking systems
Experience in construction, infrastructure, electrical utility, oil and gas, or power generation environments
Experience with SharePoint 2019 or later, document control systems, mobile workflows, GIS, scheduling, or material management solutions
