A Day In The Life
The Legal Assistant role contributes to efficient day-to-day operations by providing clerical and administrative support to the Litigation & Dispute Resolution lawyers in Fasken’s Vancouver office. This is done through exceptional practice management and client service, the ability to successfully handle competing priorities, and a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administrative tasks, such as email and calendar management, meeting coordination, processing incoming and outgoing mail, preparing expense reports, handling invoices, and disbursements
Open, maintain, and close files in accordance with firm procedures
Maintain an organized file management and bring forward system
Prepare, format, and proofread a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings,
affidavits, lists of documents, and agreements
Schedule trials, discoveries, and hearings, and prepare required documentation
Ensure all physical and electronic filing is organized and updated regularly
Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and external stakeholders
Other duties, as assigned
Required Skills and Experience
Legal Administrative Assistant certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
3+ years of commercial litigation experience, preferably in a large firm
Strong understanding of Supreme Court litigation procedure and the Rules of Court
Familiarity with Foreclosures is an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (including Teams and SharePoint) and legal software such as iManage, Adobe, Docusign, and Chrome River
Ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability and minimal supervision

Compensation
Thetypical salary range for this position is $55,000 - $75,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity.
