We are searching for a Cook to join our PARKLAND AT THE COMMON team based in HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA .

About The Opportunity
Executes departmental policies, procedures and guidelines as a member of the divisional Food Services Team
Executes food services for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in accordance with Brand Standards
Executes food service for Supportive Living Lifestyle options in accordance with Brand Standards
Executes food services for special functions such as catering and theme dinners to ensure service meets established standards
Consistently ensures food quality, presentation, and service delivery meet established department standards; ensures meals are attractive, the correct temperature and portion size, and that service is timely
Introduces self to new resident in the dining rooms as part of resident orientation / welcome
Responds to resident food service needs and expectations in accordance to service expectations
Executes the process for checking and receiving of deliveries and inventory control; ensures all supplies are stored, labelled, and rotated properly
Executes the preparation processes for meal service
Effectively uses all available resources towards satisfaction and financial goals
Leverages menus, menu costs, recipe binders, and production sheets to guide food preparation
Participates in the new menu development process
Maintains safety and sanitation in the department to meet legislative / organizational standards
Adheres to both provincial and Shannex food safety standards and holds team to the same standards
Additional duties as assigned/required
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
Culinary Arts Diploma and a valid Red Seal Journey man Cook Certificate
Current Advanced Food Handler’s Certificate
Minimum of 3-5 years of operational experience in a high-volume kitchen
Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
Experience in preparing large quantities of food
Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, prior to appointment.
Ability to read & follow detailed recipes/instructions as required
A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodation
