Are you a Registered Dental Hygienist seeking a new prospect where you get to travel within Alberta, supporting the Primary Care Alberta (PCA) Rural Public Health team? If so, this may be the opportunity for you!As a Registered Dental Hygienist with the Rural Public Health team, supporting Grande Prairie and surrounding areas, you will implement the PCA Oral Health Action Plan by addressing risk factors for oral health.Your responsibilities will include oral health assessments, delivering the fluoride varnish and sealant program to students in targeted schools; fluoride varnish to preschool children of families with socioeconomic risk factors; and oral health education for parents, and health professionals. You will work collaboratively with other AHS Public Health staff, community dentists, community agencies, and schools; integrating principles of health promotion, community development and capacity building.This position requires moving heavy equipment and navigating awkward positions. You will be required to pack, lift, move, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, PCA currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:
As a Dental Hygienist, you will provide clinical oral health care services, health promotion and preventive educational programs. You will examine and chart oral conditions, assess periodontal status, analyzes and interpret client's/patient's condition to develop a client/patient centered diagnosis/assessment and treatment plan. You will provide public education regarding oral health. You will develop and provide in-service and training sessions; dental screening and preventive dental services to schools and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of oral health programs.

Required Qualifications:
Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Dental Hygienists (ACDH).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.You must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds.This position requires a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair is necessary as work-related travel is required.Current Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS) registration is required.One year within the last three years’ experience providing preventive services such as pit and fissure sealants, fluoride varnish applications.Experience working with children and vulnerable populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred.One year within the last three years’ experience in Public Health/Community Health.
