RESEARCH OFFICER
Location: OCDSB Administration Building; 133 Greenbank Road, Nepean ON
Position Status: 1.0 Term Assignment to December 31, 2026
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Affiliation: OSSTF District 25 - Educational Support Professionals (ESP)
Salary range: $79,589 to $100,584 per annum (Level 10)
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Manager of Research, Evaluation, and Analytics, the Research Officer is responsible for leading both large and small scale research and evaluation projects to support evidence-informed decision-making at the classroom, school, and district level. This role liaises with, and provides guidance to, teachers, school administrators, central staff, senior staff, and external clients to exchange information, collaborate on joint projects, and represent the Board on external committees.
Qualifications
Completion of a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, and a minimum of 5 years related experience, including 4 years experience as a lead researcher on Education-related projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Demonstrated knowledge of issues, applications, current research and innovations in assessment/research/program evaluation,
and applying a data equity framework to the project management cycle.
Expertise in research methodology (including survey design and administration, sampling procedures, focus group and interview protocol, and mixed methods approaches), data management (including the retrieval, merging, and secure storage of data), and data analysis (both quantitative and qualitative).
Expertise in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, survey technologies and other applications, such as data management, data visualization and statistical software programs (e.g., SPSS). Experience with PowerBi would be considered an asset.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills and is able to respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders with tact, diplomacy and discretion;
Ability to deliver oral presentations in formal and informal settings and to a variety of audiences.
Ability to effectively summarize complex information and write reports for a variety of audiences.
Supervisory skills required to provide leadership and guidance to Research Analysts and temporary staff, and to oversee research projects.
Organizational and time management techniques for planning and prioritizing work, dealing with multiple demands and deadlines.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Access to reliable transportation for local travel to Board sites, as needed.
