Job Title: Accounting Professional – Sales Reconciliation & Restaurant OperationsJob Description
This role focuses on full-cycle accounting and sales reconciliation activities in a complex, multi-location restaurant environment. You will lead and support accounting processes for company-operated restaurant locations, drive process standardization, and contribute to system implementations and large-scale transformation projects. The position offers exposure to global brands, demanding and high-growth operations, and the opportunity to work closely with Finance, Operations, and Project teams while managing offshore resources and delivering accurate, timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Perform sales reconciliation activities for multiple restaurant locations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of variances.
- Support integration projects involving corporate restaurant locations, including process alignment and accounting standardization across locations.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in Finance, Operations, and Project teams to deliver business objectives and transformation initiatives.
- Assist with system implementations, ERP enhancements, and other operational accounting initiatives to improve efficiency and control.
- Analyze existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and improve financial reporting.
- Support month-end close activities, including GL close, balance sheet reconciliations, and project-related accounting requirements.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts, including fixed assets and deferred revenue.
- Contribute to full-cycle accounting processes, including budgeting, financial analysis, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting.
- Ensure adherence to internal control processes, including SOX-related controls, and support audit requirements as needed.
- Leverage advanced Excel capabilities, including pivot tables and lookup functions, to analyze financial data and support decision-making.
- Utilize ERP systems and related tools (such as SAP and reporting platforms) to support accounting, reporting, and reconciliation activities.
- Participate in large-scale business transformation projects, ensuring accounting requirements are captured, tested, and implemented effectively.
- Apply critical thinking and strong work management skills to manage competing priorities in a demanding environment with multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide guidance and oversight to 4–5 offshore team members, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with accounting standards and processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues, provide feedback, and maintain a level-headed, professional approach in a fast-paced setting.
- Maintain a process-driven mindset, ensuring tasks align with the broader business and operational objectives while meeting strict deadlines.
- Support compliance with ASC 842, ASC 606, and other relevant accounting standards as applicable to the restaurant and retail environment.
Essential Skills
- Experience in restaurant accounting, quick service restaurant (QSR), retail, or multi-location operating environments.
- Strong understanding of company-operated restaurant accounting and operational workflows.
- Hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting, including month-end close, GL close, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting functions such as budgeting, financial analysis, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in sales reconciliations and resolving variances across multiple locations.
- Experience participating in system implementations, ERP enhancements, or large-scale business transformation projects.
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across Finance, Operations, and Project teams.
- Solid understanding of internal control processes and SOX compliance requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions (e.g., VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP).
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple business functions and manage competing priorities in a demanding environment.
- Level-headed approach with the ability to give and receive feedback constructively.
- Process-driven mindset with the ability to prioritize effectively and see the larger operational and strategic picture.
- Strong work management and critical thinking skills, especially during busy periods such as month end.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and/or Controller experience.
- Pursuing Canadian CA/CPA or holding an international CA/CPA qualification.
- Big 4 accounting firm experience.
- Experience managing an offshore team, including oversight of 4–5 offshore agents.
- Knowledge of PowerQuery and Power BI as assets for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with Hyperion or similar financial consolidation and reporting tools.
- Exposure to ASC 842 and ASC 606 accounting standards.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting and deferred revenue accounting.
- Background in internal control processes and audit support, including SOX environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating humility, openness to feedback, and a collaborative approach.

Work Workplace
This role is based in office in a corporate office in downtown Toronto, Ontario, with a standard workweek of approximately 40 hours. The core hours are typically 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility, and the position requires working on-site five days a week with no work-from-home arrangement. The environment is demanding and fast-paced, particularly during month-end close and major project milestones, when extended hours and potential weekend work may be required. There is a blackout period for time off during month end to ensure timely and accurate financial close. You will work with modern financial systems and tools, including ERP platforms such as SAP, Excel (with advanced functions), and reporting tools such as PowerQuery, Power BI, and Hyperion or similar systems. The culture emphasizes performance, accountability, and execution, offering exposure to large-scale, global operations and complex business challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and manage offshore resources, operating in a rigorous yet supportive environment that values analytical thinking, process discipline, and continuous improvement. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $62.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
