School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) is seeking a Temporary Vision Support Teacher for a 0.1250 FTE role starting September 1, 2026. Your expertise will enhance learning for students with visual impairments.
This position is crucial for supporting diverse student needs through tailored education strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and collaborating with classroom educators. A focus on using assistive technology and providing braille instruction will be essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized support for visually impaired students
- Work collaboratively on IEPs with classroom teachers
- Adapt learning materials for students' unique needs
- Train educators on inclusive practices and curriculum adaptations
- Maintain thorough student documentation and reporting
Requirements:
- B.C. Teaching Certification required
- Master’s Degree in Visual Impairment Education or equivalent
- Experience implementing low vision aids in classrooms
- Proven ability to engage with families and students
- Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License
