Prepare and process journal entries resulting from daily, weekly, and monthly financial transactions. Perform monthly bank and Accounts Receivable reconciliations, complete month-end close activities, and investigate and resolve outstanding items. Prepare and process daily deposits and manage the EFT process for monthly rent payments.

Provide accounting support to internal departments and assist with ad hoc financial reporting and administrative requirements. Review payroll information for accuracy and completeness, reconcile payroll schedules to supporting documentation, and process payroll through the payroll system. Respond to payroll-related inquiries regarding pay periods, pay stub distribution, benefits, union dues, and other payroll deductions.

Calculate and process payroll adjustments, including wage increases, retroactive payments, terminations, leaves of absence, severance, and vacation-related adjustments. Administer and reconcile employee deductions and benefits, including income tax, pension plans, WSIB, EI, medical, and dental benefits. Process employee enrolments, changes, and terminations related to benefit plans and prepare adjustments to resolve account discrepancies.

Prepare year-end schedules and supporting documentation for external audit requirements. Maintain a secure and secure environment for residents and staff by identifying and reporting hazardous conditions, suspected abuse, and safety concerns in accordance with established procedures. Perform other related accounting, payroll, and administrative duties as assigned.

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Payroll, or a related discipline.

Experience with full-cycle payroll processing and general accounting functions. Robust knowledge of payroll deductions, benefits administration, ROEs, WSIB, EI, pension plans, and income tax requirements.





Experience with bank and Accounts Receivable reconciliations and month-end close procedures. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate financial and payroll records. Proficiency with payroll software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond professionally to payroll and accounting inquiries. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee, payroll, and financial information. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
