Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Diploma $29.584 to $36.176

Travel Required: Yes

: Restores, maintains and enhances the recovery of clients seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related impacts by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education

- Chemical Dependency diploma

Licenses

- Valid Class 5 driver's license

- Computer skills

Knowledge and Abilities

- Knowledge in addictions screening, assessment tools and procedures
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to respond under pressure.
- Knowledge of chemical dependency/co-dependency and effect on the family unit.
- Ability to report client information in accordance with qualified standards
- Ability to deliver workshops and lecture material to clients.
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Service's Act
- Knowledge in development model of recovery (SMRS)
- Knowledge of HIPA
- Knowledge of educational/behavioural interventions/consultations
- Knowledge of the Youth Detox and Stabilization Act
- Knowledge in Transtheoretical model of change




- Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
- Ability to prioritize work
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge in co-current disorders and issues related to gambling addictions
